Its reputation for creating visually expressive and ergonomically successful products has spanned the globe, making a significant impact in the international design landscape since the 1980s. Consulting agency frog design recently hired architecture and interior design studio Perkins&Will to design their new office in Austin, Texas. It is perhaps impossible to overstate the significance of Hartmut Esslinger’s impact on modern industrial design. As the founder of Frog Design Inc., a global design consultancy he established in Mutlangen, Germany in 1969 and then moved to Silicon Valley, Esslinger has been at the forefront of design excellence for decades. He coined the phrase “form follows emotion,” which stood in stark contrast to the “form follows function” edict that dominated industrial design until that point.
The IQ/MAX turret, a “multi-line, multi-speaker phone system” designed for IPC in 2010. It was meant as a tool for stock traders in the age just before computerized trading took over.
